Are you actively building (or maintaining) a pipeline for high school students interested in teacher education? Are you collaborating on a pathway for working professionals (provisionally-licensed, paraprofessionals, career changers) who want to earn their teaching license? Are you busy writing articulation agreements between technical or community colleges and four-year institutions to reduce barriers to teacher education programs? Are you partnering to implement a residency program for teacher candidates?

Across the nation, an estimated 366,000 practicing teachers are not fully certified for their teaching assignments. Another 45,000+ positions went unfilled this past year. School-university partnerships have a critical role to play in meeting these challenges.

If you are actively developing pathways and pipelines – or if you’re just thinking about it – join us! We plan to complete a comprehensive survey of existing literature and to engage in multi-pronged, multi-site research. Along the way, we hope to identify best practices for building on and adapting already powerful approaches to teacher education that can grow access to the teaching profession.

Let’s see what we can learn together!
