The NASUP Awards Committee and Antiracism Committee are thrilled to announce the recipients of our first-ever Antiracist Curriculum and Pedagogy Mini-Grants!
Given the complex political climate surrounding this essential work, the names and institutions of the awardees have been respectfully redacted. Each of the three selected projects will receive approximately $500 in funding to support innovative, equity-driven educational initiatives.
About the Funded Projects
📚 Antiracist Math Resources for Pre-Service Teachers
Funding will support the purchase of mathematics books that center critical pedagogy and antiracism, aimed at equipping future teachers with transformative teaching tools.
🧠Professional Learning Through Book Study
A collaborative book study based on Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain by Zaretta Hammond (2014) will bring together pre-service teachers, mentor educators, and campus leaders. The project will culminate in family and student events that showcase culturally responsive teaching in action.
🎨 “Shades of Change” Classroom Kits
An elementary educator will develop classroom kits including books (The Proudest Color by Modir & Kashou, 2021 and Our Skin by Madison & Ralli, 2021), guided lessons, discussion prompts, and creative materials. These kits foster age-appropriate conversations about race, emotions, and inclusion.
Moving the Mission Forward 🌟
These mini-grants reflect NASUP’s ongoing commitment to equity, antiracism, and social justice in education. We are proud to support educators who are creating meaningful, inclusive learning environments.
Congratulations to the recipients!
Your work inspires and leads the way toward transformative change.
